PDFPageElement: signatures property

Works in all major browsers
Since July 2026

WebPDF works in Chrome and Edge 125, Firefox 153 and Safari 18, on desktop and mobile, and in every later version: the oldest versions its PDF.js build supports, which already have every platform feature WebPDF needs. Since July 2026, that is every major browser.

The signatures property of the PDFPageElement interface sets or returns whether a <pdf-page> shows the cards of its digital signatures. It reflects the signatures HTML attribute.

Value

A boolean value: the effective one, also when the page inherits it.

The attribute is multi-homed: when the page has none, it follows its <pdf-file>, then the WebPDF <script>. Reading the property gives the effective value, its own or inherited.

With signatures, every signature field on the page gets a compact card under it (or beside a tall field), and signatures without a visible field get cards in the page's top right corner. Clicking a card opens the full card above the page. Without it, the fields keep their focusable hotspots, which open the full card too.

Setting false writes signatures=-; null removes the attribute. With controls, Alt S toggles the page's cards and Alt Shift S the file's.

Examples

Showing signature cards

The demo file is signed by a demo authority; trusting its root makes the signatures verify.
